Meet Nick
A dedicated Groton parent, experienced leader, and community volunteer focused on a strong future for our town.
Nick Degaitas was born and raised in Warwick, Rhode Island, and moved to North Providence at age 12. Growing up helping in his family’s restaurant, Nick learned early the importance of hard work, helping others, and taking care of people, values that continue to guide him today.
Nick graduated from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy-Boston in 2002 and became a licensed pharmacist. He has built a successful career in pharmacy management, with experience in budgeting, operations, and leading large teams. His work has focused on identifying efficiencies, reducing waste, and making thoughtful, data-driven decisions, skills he would bring to the Select Board to help ensure responsible budgeting and effective town services. He currently works as an Account Executive for a long term pharmacy chain.
Nick has been an active member of the community for many years. He served for two years on the board of the Groton-Dunstable Education Foundation, a local nonprofit that raises private funding to support innovative programs and opportunities in the public schools. As the business liaison, he helped increase support from local businesses and expand funding for classroom grants that directly benefit students and teachers.
He has also dedicated his time to coaching youth sports, including soccer and basketball through Groton-Dunstable programs and the YMCA, building connections with local families and supporting young athletes. In addition, Nick has served for four years on the Sargisson Beach Committee, reflecting his commitment to preserving and caring for the natural spaces that make Groton special. In his free time, he enjoys staying active and exploring Groton’s extensive network of trails and conservation land.
Nick plans to stay in Groton long-term and is deeply committed to preserving what makes the town special while planning responsibly for its future. He wants to ensure Groton continues to thrive so that his children, and others growing up here, will want to build their own lives in this community. His goal is to help shape a future that every generation can be proud of.
